Toddler Gives Her Mother Advice After Hearing Parents Fight

Children are the most pure form of humanity. They speak honestly and without filters. Sometimes, the honesty is a little too humbling, but that kind of direct communication is also refreshing. In this adorable video, a toddler gives her mother advice after hearing her parents fight. She is direct and to the point, but also filled with love and kindness.

Here are some key takeaways straight from the mouth of a child:

First, everything should be low. Don’t get too amped up about things. When we are upset, it’s easy to raise our voices or say things that we later regret. Keep it low! Low voices. Low stakes. Don’t get worked up into a tizzy and regret something later.

This sweet girl simply wants her mommy and daddy to be friends. You can’t get more simple than that. If you think about it, we are always trying to teach our children how to get along with others and be good friends. Ironically, it’s easy to forget those same principles in our adult relationships. We need to get back to the basics.

She also wants everyone to just smile. Is that too much to ask? This little girl doesn’t think so.

Children are so intuitive when it comes to facial expressions. My own son can tell when I’m sad, upset, happy, frustrated, etc simply by looking at my face. Often, his emotions and mood mirror my own. If we want our children to be happy, maybe we should try to smile more. This precious girl is really on to something, here.

Throughout the course of her pep talk, this sweet girl continues to reassure her mother that she’s “not trying to be mean”. She is giving advice from a place of love and concern for the well-being of her parents. If that doesn’t make your heart melt, I don’t know what will!

She really gets to the heart of the matter when she discusses the hard consequences of a world full of mean people. According to this therapist toddler, if everyone is mean, then “Everyone would be a monster in the future.” I don’t know anyone who wants that.

She expands on that thought and concludes that a world full of mean people would not only result in a world full of monsters, but an empty world. The mean people of the world would devour everyone and leave the world empty. The consequences would be severe.

If we don’t want a world full of monsters, the solution is simple according to our friend. We simply need everyone to be a person. I think we can all get on board with that. The world should be full of people, not monsters.

She really drives it home with her final thoughts and shares her true heart. At the end of the day, she wants her mom and dad to be friends, to be settled with one another. I don’t know of any child that doesn’t want their parents to be friends and at ease with each other. It’s a simple, yet profound point.

There is so much truth we can gather from the simple words of a toddler.
