Your Words Are Powerful

Proverbs 18: 21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.

Do you know just how much weight your words carry? The Bible instructs us that our tongue is so powerful, it has the ability to create death and life. That’s insane!

This means that we have the ability, through our words, to create an atmosphere in our lives and in our homes that attracts death or attracts life. That is a weighty and humbling truth. Jane notes that we have the ability to attract angelic activity to our life simply through our words. On the other hand, we can also attract spirits of depression, anxiety, frustration, etc., by allowing our mouth to release negative words and phrases.

Matthew 17:20 So Jesus said to them, “Because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.

Did you even know that was in the Bible?? Faith in our heart + the words of our mouth = incredible shifts in our life.

Romans 10:8 But what does it say? The Word is near you, on your lips and in your heart; that is, the Word of faith which we preach,

The connection between the heart and the mouth is clear.

Luke 6: 45 The good man produces what is good and honorable and moral out of the good treasure in his heart; and the evil man produces what is wicked and depraved out of the evil [in his heart]; for his mouth speaks from the overflow of his heart.

What you truly believe in your heart will eventually come out of your mouth. The two are not mutually exclusive from one another, they are closely tied together.

Call Things Into Existence

Romans 4:17 As it is written: I have made you the father of many nations—in the presence of the God in whom he believed, the one who gives life to the dead and calls things into existence that do not exist.

This scripture is referencing Abraham. He had great faith in his heart that manifested as the words that came out of his mouth. He believed for something and spoke into existence through both the faith in his heart and the words of his mouth. WOW!

When God created the universe and all the heavens, galaxies and creation, he literally spoke into the nothingness and created everything. With the words of His mouth, he created. INSANE!!!

We are created in the image of God with his very DNA running through our body. Therefore, we hold that same ability to create through the power of our words.

Job 22:28 You will also declare a thing, And it will be established for you; So light will shine on your ways.

YOU will decree a thing. Not someone else. Did you know that God has equipped you in this way? This is good news!

But wait, what exactly is the thing? What exactly are we able to decree?

Jane breaks it down for us. “You shall decree the Word. You shall decree the promise, the promises God has given you. You shall decree the Words God has spoken to you from the Bible, and you shall decree the prophecies God has spoken to you.” We must speak and decree all of the promises God gives us.

What Did Jesus Do?

So how exactly did Jesus walk in this concept while He was on Earth? In the Bible, we can clearly see that Jesus had a particular way of releasing miracles. He didn’t pray for them to happen. He used his words to command things into being.

Matthew 12:13 Then he said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” So he stretched it out and it was completely restored, just as sound as the other.

John 5:8 Jesus saith unto him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk.

Luke 13:12 When Jesus saw her, He called her over and said to her, “Woman, you are released from your illness.”

John 11:43 When he had said this, Jesus called in a loud voice, “Lazarus, come out!”

Matthew 4:39 And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.

These scriptures are all examples of Jesus’ use of declarations of dominion. Through the power of His words, He commanded things into being. Are you utilizing the power of your words? It’s time to begin decreeing and declaring breakthrough in your own life and in your family.

How To Decree For Breakthrough: A Powerful Miracle

Jane shares the incredible story of how God taught her how to decree for breakthrough. She tells how her grandson, who was born with a genetic condition, was miraculously healed after she decreed breakthrough.

For the first 5 months of his life, Jane’s grandson cried. Constantly. He wasn’t meeting developmental milestones such as making eye contact, rolling over, and smiling at his mama.

Jane was petitioning the Lord one day for his healing when God spoke to her one scripture:

Psalm 85:8 I will hear what God the LORD will speak: For he will speak peace unto his people, and to his saints: But let them not turn again to folly.

As Jane studied this scripture, she learned that the word hear in the first half of the scripture means “to listen intentionally and to hear intelligently”. What does that mean? As we ask the Lord for solutions, we are listening intentionally for His answers and strategies for what to speak and how to pray.

The second part of the scripture says He will speak peace unto his people. If you look at the Hebrew words for speak peace, the phrase is Dabar Shalom. Dabar = to make a decree. Shalom = peace, wholeness, completeness, prosperity.

After hearing this powerful word from God, Jane called her son, daughter-in-law and grandson over. The entire time, her grandson was crying and screaming. Still, she decreed Shalom, Dabar Shalom, over him as he cried. She decreed the word, decreed peace over him.

Initially, nothing appeared to happen in the physical. But they soon learned that something definitely began to shift in the spirit when they decreed shalom over that precious baby.

Two hours later, Jane’s daughter-in-law laid her baby down to change him and for the first time in 5 months, he stopped crying! The entire family was stunned! That was only the beginning. He then rolled over! His mama was so excited, she picked him up to hug him. He looked her straight in the eye and smiled!

Within minutes, God fully caught that baby up in his development just as if no time had been lost. Absolutely incredible!

Dabar Shalom
