It’s never too early to begin instilling a love for the Bible and Biblical truths in our little ones. The story of Noah is such a great place to begin. I’ve created this simple Noah’s Ark toddler activity just for you. There’s even a bonus printable Noah’s Ark story…simple enough for toddlers to understand.

Noah’s Ark Toddler Activity
This adorable activity is super simple and hands on. There’s no better way to learn than by doing, so this activity definitely fits the bill!
Gather Materials
You won’t really need much for this activity. Before you get into it, make sure you have the following materials:
- Big cardboard box
- Crayons, markers, or colored pencils
- Scissors
- Glue
- Printable animals, Noah, rainbow, and Noah’s Ark Story (Download link at the end of the article)
Create The Cardboard Boat
Ok, let’s begin!
First, create a big cardboard boat.
Simply take a big box, as big as you can find. I cut my big box to create two panels. On one panel, I drew the body of the boat. On the second panel, I drew the top part. Please note my incredible artistic ability below. 🤣 If you lack artistic confidence, these photos should make you feel a bit more able. These do not have to be perfect.

Cut out the body and top part. You can either glue the pieces together or tape them. I taped them so I wouldn’t have to wait for glue to dry.

Prepare The Animals
Time to prepare the animals! As you know, Noah took two of every animal with him. Well, obviously we can’t include every animal. We’d need a cardboard box the size of a massive yacht.
To simplify things, I chose 14 various animals for this project. In your printable animal packet, you will find the following animals:
- Koala
- Kangaroo
- Rhinocerous
- Turtle
- Rabbit
- Sheep
- Zebra
- Chicken
- Pig
- Bear
- Lion
- Monkey
- Giraffe
- Elephant
Color the animals and cut them out.

Get On The Boat, Animals! The Rain Is Coming!
The final step of our project involves glue and the freshly cut animals, rainbow and Noah.
The easiest way to handle the glue is simple to take some liquid glue and squeeze it all over the boat.
If you’d like to work a bit more on gross motor skills, I suggest squeezing some glue into a bowl and allowing your child to spread the glue on the cardboard boat by using sponge brushes (you can purchase those at Dollar Tree).
I used both methods, but squeezing glue directly onto the boat was more effective. My son sure loved using the sponge brushes, though!

Once the boat is covered in glue, get those animals on the boat! The rain is coming soon!

Ta-da! You’ve created the most adorable Noah’s Ark! Well done.

Printable Noah’s Ark Animals And Story
Creating the ark is just one part of this experience. Before you begin the project, read the story of Noah to your child so they know the story behind this boat full of random animals!
Simply click the link below, and print out the story. I recommend laminating the story, punching holes in the pages, and creating a proper book that is able to withstand the aggressive playing style of some toddlers (aka mine).
