lf you’re like me, you’re constantly on the prowl for solutions that will improve toddler sleep. Turns out, the answer may lie in tart cherry juice. Who knew?
Before we begin, let’s get one thing straight. This article is, in no way, offering any kind of medical advice. Before you try implementing any new protocol to your toddler’s life, always check with your doctor to ensure it won’t cause any negative side effects in your toddler.
Now that we’ve got that out of the way, let’s investigate this intriguing toddler sleep hack going viral in the social media world.
Here’s what’s ahead:
Social Media Loves Tart Cherry Juice!

Tart cherry juice is having a moment, and social media is on this trend. There are multiple viral videos of desperate mamas giving their toddler a bottle filled with tart cherry juice and water before bed, hoping to get a few extra moments of sleep. I can attest that a sleep deprived mother will try just about anything.
The following video shows a mama giving a confused toddler a bottle of water and cherry juice before bed. Where’s the milk, mama? The video then transitions to footage of the toddler passed out in bed at 6:30pm. I guess it worked!

What Does Science Say?

The science is promising, mamas!
Research suggests that tart cherry juice may offer natural support for toddler sleep due to its high content of melatonin, a hormone involved in regulating the sleep-wake cycle. Studies have shown that consuming tart cherry juice, particularly in the hours leading up to bedtime, can lead to improvements in both the duration and quality of sleep in adults.
While there is limited research specifically focusing on toddlers, the melatonin naturally present in tart cherry juice holds promise for promoting a more restful night’s sleep in this age group as well. However, as noted in the intro, it’s essential to consult with a pediatrician before introducing any new foods or beverages into a toddler’s diet, including tart cherry juice, to ensure safety and appropriateness for individual health needs.
Hey, that’s good enough for me. Gotta go! Going to the supermarket.
How To Try The Trend

If you want to give tart cherry juice a whirl and see if it might just improve toddler sleep, it’s easy to incorporate into your toddler’s daily rhythm.
Simply go to the supermarket and find a bottle of tart cherry juice. It might be a little difficult to find because it’s not as common as apple juice or other juices. If you can’t find it at a normal supermarket, try a health food store. Amazon also has a great one for a really good price. You can check that out HERE.
Your toddler will only need about 2 ounces before bed which you can easily mix with a cup of water in a bottle. And that’s it! I know I’m definitely going to give this a try.
If you try it, let me know if it worked for you in the comments below. Hope you get some good sleep really soon, mama!
