Are you ready to have your mind completely blown? I’ve got a rainbow bubble experiment that is going to absolutely delight you and your little ones. I don’t know people come up with these things, but I sure am grateful for the creativity and out-of-the-box thinking of humans. Get ready. You’re about to be wowed.
Prepare For The Rainbow Bubble Science Experiment

I love an easy science experiment. For small children, it’s gotta be something that’s easy to construct and also holds a big wow factor. This experiment definitely fits the bill.
You will only need a few things to execute the magic. Gather the following items:
- Empty 20 ounce soda bottle
- Scissors
- Thick paper towels
- Rubber bands
- Food coloring
- Liquid dish soap
- Small plate
That’s it! Totally doable, right? Now let’s get to making some rainbow bubble magic!
Let’s Make Rainbow Bubbles!
1. Using scissors, cut the plastic bottle in half. You will only use the top half of the bottle, so if you have multiple children participating in the experiment, be sure to collect one bottle per child.

2. Place a sheet of thick paper towel over the cut opening of the bottle and secure with a rubber band.

3. Take the food coloring and create a rainbow pattern of colors across the paper towel.

4. Take the small plate and combine a few squirts of liquid dish soap with about 1/2 cup water. Give it a little mix. Don’t use too much water as you want the mix to be very bubbly.
5. Place the plastic bottle gently into the soapy mix, rainbow side down. Make sure the paper towel is saturated in the wet mixture.

6. Remove the cap from the bottle and gently blow into the bottle while lifting the plastic bottle up, creating a stream of rainbow bubbles underneath the bottle.

That’s it! Did you love this? Was your child delighted? I have no doubt they were. This is one you’ll want to do again and again. Save this experiment so you can do it again.
