It can be really overwhelming to constantly come up with new and exciting activities for our toddlers. You’ll definitely want to make a note of these 10 simple and entertaining toddler activities for the days where you need extra help. After you read the article, you’ll find a video of the activities. I hope you enjoy!

10 Simple Toddler Activities

1. Paper Tube Maze

For this activity, you will need paper tubes. Collect empty paper towel or toilet paper tubes. Place the tubes against the wall, the open end facing the floor. Tape the tubes down so they are secure. You can use more than one tube to create a longer tube tunnel.

Collect object that will fit through the hole of the tube. Cotton balls work great. Small balls, animals, little people figures, blocks, and small toys will work. Drop the items through the tubes.

2. Animal And People Rescue

Grab a muffin tin and small animal figures or little people figures. Place one animal or person into each muffin well. Place scotch tape on the muffin tin to trap the figures into the wells. Once they are securely trapped, let your child rescue them.

This one is great for building gross motor skills.

3. Spray And Clean

This is such a simple activity, but toddlers love it! My son particularly loves this idea.

Fill a spray bottle with water and grab a dry cloth. Give the water bottle and cloth to your child. Let them spray different surfaces and wipe dry with the cloth.

You might think this is the most silly idea ever, but I promise you your child will love this activity.

4. Nail Polish Painting

What little girl doesn’t love painting their nails? It’s difficult for them to do it themselves, so this is a great way for them to practice without actually painting their own nails.

Trace your child’s hand onto a piece of paper. Draw a nail on each finger. Give your child a bottle of nail polish and let them paint the nails. You can also use paint for this activity.

5. Pin The Snowflake

This one is great for any type of weather. Don’t wait until it’s cold!

Grab a piece of paper and use a small ruler to draw a six sided snowflake. Tape or glue the paper to a cardboard box. Using a screwdriver, poke holes along the lines of the snowflake.

Fill a container with q-tips and let your child drop a q-tip into each hole on the snowflake.

Voila! You’ve got a perfectly adorable white q-tip snowflake!

6. Fruit Sculptures

This one is super creative and will really lets the artistic side of your child come alive. You will need toothpicks and small chunks of fruit such as pineapple, apple, pear, grapes, etc.

Connect chunks of fruit to both ends of the toothpick. Using the toothpicks and fruit, continue to build connections and create a cool structure. This is a great brain challenging exercise for adults, too!

7. Feed The Baby

No one wants baby to be hungry!

Tape or glue a piece of paper onto an empty cereal box. Draw a baby face on the paper. Be sure to draw a large mouth on the baby face. Cut out the mouth so there is a hole that goes into the cereal box.

Using a spoon, drop beans, cereal, rice, etc into the baby’s mouth. Once the baby is full …or rather, the cereal box is full, empty it out and start again.

8. Cardboard Box Creation

This is another of my son’s favorite activities. It’s the best because it truly is so, so easy.

All you need for this is a large, empty cardboard box. Be sure it’s big enough for your child to sit comfortably inside. Once you place your child inside the box, equip them with stickers, markers, crayons, anything you have on hand for box decorating. Let them go to town and make the inside of the box beautiful.

This is a highly engaging art experience.

9. Egg Shell Hammer Game

This one is perfect for children who love to hit things. My son falls into that category.

You will need to collect egg shells from hard-boiled eggs for this activity. Once you have a good collection of egg shells, draw shapes, numbers, or little designs on top of the egg shells.

Place the egg shells on a table, and give your child a small wooden hammer or something that is appropriate for smashing. Instruct your toddler to find a shape on one of the egg shells. Once the shape is located, let the smashing begin!

This is a great way to practice shape, color, or number recognition.

10. Puffy Stickers On Windows

What child doesn’t love stickers? For this activity, you will only need some puffy stickers or gel stickers. I find both of these types of stickers at the Dollar Tree.

Give your toddler a sheet of stickers and let them stick them to the window. Puffy stickers and gel stickers are perfect for the window because they are easier to take off the window.
