You might want to sit down for this. As if growing one or two babies at a time wasn’t crazy enough, imagine carrying and giving birth to nine babies? Well, there’s a woman who did just that, and you’re about to learn all about her and meet her nine beautiful children.
Halima Cisse, Super Mama
In 2021, the world marveled at the miraculous story of Halima Cisse, a mother from Mali. Halima became known globally for giving birth to nine babies at once, a rare and extraordinary event. In fact, her story is so rare, she holds the Guinness World Record as the only woman to birth nine babies who all survived. What an incredible story she holds!

Halima’s journey began in Mali, where she and her husband, Kader Arby, eagerly awaited the arrival of their children. Initially, doctors had believed Halima was carrying seven babies, but during the delivery in Morocco, they discovered two more. Surprise!
The nine babies, five girls and four boys, were delivered by cesarean section. Thanks to the incredible expertise of the medical staff, Halima survived the surgery, along with all 9 babies. In total, 32 medical professionals took part in the miraculous event.
Despite being born prematurely, they were reported to be in good health. Each baby weighed between 1.1 and 2.2 pounds.
Halima and Kader named their children: Mohammed VI, Oumar, Elhadji, Bah, Kadidia, Fatouma, Hawa, Adama and Oumou. The love Halima and Kader have for their children is matched by nothing else. Halima notes that putting all nine babies to sleep is one of the most difficult aspects of the journey, but snuggles and cuddles help them each fall asleep quickly. That’s a heart-full of snuggles!
